Community Hatchery Program
The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH), in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), launched the Community Hatchery Program (CHP) to grant funding support to eligible community hatcheries and provide strategic and targeted support for Ontario’s community fish culture and stocking efforts.
Invading Species Awareness Program
Ontario’s Invading Species Awareness Program (ISAP) has been a partnership initiative of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) since 1992. The ISAP is focused on preventing invasive species introduction and spread to Ontario’s forests and waters, and protecting Ontario’s biodiversity.
Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program
T he Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), together with many partners, are working to bring Atlantic Salmon back to Lake Ontario. This treasured species is an important part of our natural heritage and Ontario’s biodiversity.
Heritage Centre
The OFAH | Mario Cortellucci Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre is a longstanding OFAH dream that has been made possible by the generous financial donation from Mario Cortellucci, a proud conservationist, avid angler and hunter and OFAH life member.

National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP)
Partnering with the international, Kentucky-based NASP program, the OFAH trains Ontario elementary and secondary teachers who brought the curriculum-based archery program back to their schools for the 2014/2015 school year.
OFAH Annual General Meeting and Fish & Wildlife Conference
The Annual General Meeting and Fish & Wildlife Conference features a wide range of fish and wildlife experts from the private sector, academia, and provincial and federal agencies. The annual event is an opportunity to showcase our fishing and hunting heritage and foster discussion about how to conserve our natural resources for generations to come.
OFAH Conservation Dinners
The OFAH Conservation Dinner tradition is a great way to meet like-minded people concerned about Ontario’s outdoors heritage and future while enjoying good food and great auction items.
OFAH Get Outdoors
OFAH Get Outdoors is a national, award-winning, youth conservation and leadership program, which promotes our outdoor heritage through supervised, hands-on, fun and instructional activities.
OFAH Ontario Angler Awards
The OFAH Ontario Angler Awards is a free province-wide program that officially promotes and recognizes recreational angling efforts in Ontario by both resident and non-resident anglers.

Research Grants provided to graduate students attending Ontario universities.
OFAH/Ontario Record Fish Registry
The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH)/Ontario Record Fish Registry has been developed to recognize the largest fish legally angled from Ontario public waters. Almost fifty game and nongame fish categories will receive recognition.
OFAH/OPG TackleShare
The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, in partnership with Ontario Power Generation, offer the OFAH/OPG TackleShare program. This program is designed to lend fishing rods, reels and basic tackle to children and novice anglers who do not have their own fishing equipment and are eager to experience the excitement of fishing.
Ontario Family Fishing Events
Ontario Family Fishing Events offer a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters without the otherwise mandatory fishing version outdoors card. The Ontario Government designates two periods throughout the year as licence-free – the three-day Family Day Weekend in February and a full nine days in July that coincides with National Fishing Week.
Ontario Hunter Education Program (OHEP)
The OFAH administers the Ontario Hunter Education Program, which provides introductory information about ecosystems and wildlife management; hunting laws and regulations; hunter responsibilities; identification, biology, management of and hunting techniques for big game, small game and waterfowl; hunting and survival equipment and the hunter’s role in society.
Shimano Fish Pond
The OFAH Shimano Fish Pond located at the OFAH head office in Peterborough is available to students, senior citizens, community groups and guests with special needs, allowing barrier-free fishing.
Sunday Gun Hunting
Sunday gun hunting in Southern Ontario has been, and continues to be a significant OFAH success story. Since its inception in September 2005, the number of municipalities that permit Sunday gun hunting in Southern Ontario has grown to 160. Each year, OFAH staff attends numerous municipal committees and council meetings to champion Sunday gun hunting.
