Ministry Seeks Public’s Help in Two Shot and Abandoned Moose
October 9, 2013
The Ministry of Natural Resources is seeking the public’s help with information on the person or persons responsible for shooting and abandoning two cow moose in the City of Kawartha Lakes Somerville Tract Forest.
The open season for moose in 2012 in this area was from Monday, October 15 to Saturday, October 20. During this period, conservation officers located two cow moose that had been shot and abandoned between the towns of Norland and Kinmount. One was approximately 50 metres east of the main forest access road, halfway between Hwy. 503 and Pinery Rd. The other was one kilometre south of Hwy. 503 and 500 metres east of the forest access road, as well as approximately 60 metres from an all-terrain vehicle trail. It is believed that the moose were killed in the early part of the week.
