OFAH commends MNR on new interactive fishing tool
Fish ON-Line offers anglers of all abilities a one-stop fishing portal
Just in time for the open water season, the Ministry of Natural Resources has launched an interactive web tool that provides a wide range of information sure to appeal to anglers of all abilities.
OFAH Executive Director Mike Reader is enthusiastic about what the mapping tool can do for anglers. “Fish ON-Line is a terrific new tool for the angler’s virtual tackle box. It offers the kind of practical information that anglers are looking for in one accessible, user-friendly location.”
Fish ON-Line is a Google map-based interface that can be used to search for fishing opportunities by fish species, water body, stocked water body or GPS coordinates. There is also a list of more than 25 popular fishing water bodies, which is perfect for the novice angler to investigate. Anglers can get directions from anywhere in North America to the lake of their choice using Google map technology which is built into the tool.
To check out Fish ON-Line, go to www.ontario.ca/fishing and choose the Fish ON-Line fishing button. In addition to the mapping tool, a video by Minister of Natural Resources Linda Jeffrey introducing the new feature and a video tutorial are also offered.
