OFAH hosts 83rd Fish and Wildlife Conference
Old favorites, new innovations make for an unbeatable conference

Outdoor enthusiasts from across the province are gathering in Mississauga this week for the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters‘ (OFAH) 83rd Annual General Meeting and Fish & Wildlife Conference. This year, the conference is going interactive, with livestreaming and an email Question and Answer session. Back by popular demand, the conference is teaming up with the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show (TSS), making it a terrific March break destination for the entire family.

The annual OFAH conference attracts hundreds of delegates, and runs from Thursday, March 17 through Saturday March 19 at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Mississauga. The main conference gets underway Thursday afternoon and the youth delegates arrive Friday morning. Speakers, awards and free admission to the TSS all day Saturday round out the OFAH event.

For the first time ever, Friday’s presentations will be livestreamed on the Internet via www.ofah.org. The Honourable Linda Jeffrey, Minister of Natural Resources, will give a morning presentation to members and announce the Ministry of Natural Resources Junior Conservation Award. OFAH members are invited to email questions for the Minister’s Question and Answer period to asktheminister@ofah.org. Throughout the day, speakers will cover topics of interest and concern to Ontario’s anglers and hunters, including and white-tailed deer declines, wolf and coyote studies and a sneak preview of a new online fishing tool. Tim Hudak, M.P.P., Leader of the Official Opposition and the Honourable Gail Shea, M.P., Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, will also address delegates on Friday.

The three-day event culminates with the Conservation Awards banquet on Saturday evening, at which Ontario Environmental Commissioner Gord Miller will deliver the keynote address.
