Outdoors showcased in new speaker series
O.F.A.H. invites public to learn more about the great outdoors

The O.F.A.H.| Mario Cortellucci Hunting & Fishing Heritage Centre has been welcoming visitors daily since it opened its doors in mid-April. This week, a unique series of evening events showcasing all there is to do and enjoy in the outdoors gets underway in the centre’s Toronto Sportsmen’s Show Amphitheatre.

“We are excited to be offering this series to the community this summer, and hope that it will be of interest, not only to outdoors enthusiasts, but to the general public as well,” said Robert Pye, O.F.A.H. Manager of Member Services and Corporate Relations. “We’ve lined up experts who will cover everything from the finer points of fishing, to moose calling, and lots in between. We also welcome and encourage any suggestions for speakers that we could add to the series.”

To kick things off, a fly tying workshop was held on June 23, and the Ministry of Natural Resources Canine Unit gave a demonstration on June 24. Also scheduled are: the Shimano Night, Kawartha Lakes Bass Fishing Seminar on June 28; a seminar on Gearing up for Family Fishing Week on July 8; an Introduction to Food Plotting on July 14; and a Moose Calling seminar on July 19. The schedule will be printed in Peterborough This Week, a series supporter, and posted on the heritage centre website at www.hfhc.ca. All sessions begin at 7 pm and wrap up around 9 pm. Walk-ins are welcome, and no reservations are required.

The air-conditioned venue seats approximately 70 people, and parking is free. There is no charge to visit to the centre, including the speaker series, until September 1. In addition to the speaker series, the centre is open to the public for tours daily and a series of day camps are being run for O.F.A.H. youth members during the month of August. Group and school tours are also available by appointment. For more information, visit www.hfhc.ca or call 705-748-6324 ext 102.

With over 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters, and 670 member clubs, the O.F.A.H. is the largest nonprofit, fishing, hunting and conservation-based organization in Ontario. To learn more, visit www.ofah.org.
