Devoted volunteer conservationist earns top O.F.A.H. award

Fred Geberdt, of Owen Sound, has been named the winner of the prestigious Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters’ (O.F.A.H.) Gord Blake Memorial Conservation Award for 2002.

Geberdt received what is regarded as one of the province’s highest awards for conservation, at the O.F.A.H. 75th Annual General Meeting and Wildlife Conference held at the Sheraton Hotel in Hamilton.

A long-term member of the O.F.A.H. and the Sydenham Sportsmen’s Association, Geberdt has a long history of working to protect our valuable natural resources.

Geberdt has chaired the fisheries advisory committee of his Owen Sound club for the past 18 years, has helped with the Pitch-in program, worked on M.N.R. stewardship junior ranger programs and been involved in numerous fisheries programs.

“Fred is truly a credit to the province’s anglers and hunters,” said O.F.A.H. president Neil Wiens. “His name is synonymous with conservation work in Ontario and he should be very proud of his accomplishments.”
