New strategy to promote fishing

Putting rods and reels into the hands of more people is the key component of a new national strategy to promote recreational fishing.

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.) along with 64 other fishing related organizations have developed a new strategy to attract and involve more people in a wonderful outdoor family activity.

“Getting youth involved is critical to the future of sportfishing in Canada and this new strategy will address this need,” said Mike Reader, O.F.A.H. Executive Director. “Through this initiative, we will create programs that can be easily adopted at the grassroots level using volunteers from hundreds of fishing clubs and members of the fishing industry to make it easy for people to take up fishing. The O.F.A.H. already has programs like Get Outdoors and Tackle Share
