Avid outdoorsman to continue studies at Trent University
PETERBOROUGH – The OFAH/Mike Reader/Toronto Sportsmen’s Show/Fleming College Scholarship award is given to a student that has shown academic excellence in the Fish and Wildlife Program at Fleming College in an effort to further their education.
This year’s recipient is Ryan Johnstone, who has maintained over a 3.0 GPA and is planning to continue his studies in Conservation Biology at Trent University.
“The importance of fish and wildlife conservation is not explained, but experienced,” he said in his award entry essay.
Johnstone is an avid waterfowl hunter and has held summer positions with both the Canadian Wildlife Services and Delta Waterfowl, assisting with banding and waterfowl research.
“It’s rewarding to see people like Ryan who have such a passion for fish and wildlife conservation in Ontario,” says OFAH Manager of Fish and Wildlife Services Matt DeMille. “We wish him all the best as he continues his studies.”
The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters is Ontario’s largest, non-profit, fish and wildlife conservation-based organization, representing 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters and 725 member clubs.
