Northwestern Ontario anglers and hunters joining province’s leading outdoors organization
O.F.A.H. Zone B recognized for increasing membership

With more than 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.) is the leading private, nonprofit fish and wildlife conservation organization in the province, and is widely acknowledged as the voice of anglers and hunters. At an awards event held during the 81st O.F.A.H. Annual General Meeting and Fish & Wildlife Conference in Mississauga on March 20, the Federation singled out one of its zones in Northwestern Ontario in recognition of its impressive membership growth.

The O.F.A.H. divides the province into nine zones. O.F.A.H. Zone B is located in Northwestern Ontario, and includes the Ministry of Natural Resources districts of Thunder Bay, Nipigon, and Terrace Bay. The southern border of the zone abuts the northern shore of Lake Superior.

O.F.A.H. 1st Vice-President Rob Hare presented the Bob Pope Memorial Award to representatives of O.F.A.H. Zone B at the conference. "It is our members and member clubs that keep the O.F.A.H. and its conservation efforts strong and growing," said Hare. "Through their hard work, O.F.A.H. Zone B grew their membership by almost 10 percent last year, which sets a high standard for the rest of us to follow."

The Memorial award is presented annually in honor of long time O.F.A.H. member, and staffer Bob Pope, who knew the importance of strong membership to the Federation. It is given to the zone that, by percentage, shows the greatest increase in membership. Though huge in geographic range, O.F.A.H. Zone B is relatively sparsely populated, making the achievement that much more extraordinary.

With over 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters, and 655 member clubs, the O.F.A.H. is the largest nonprofit, charitable, fishing, hunting and conservation-based organization in Ontario, and the voice of anglers and hunters. For more information, visit www.ofah.org.
