Local youth earns conservation kudos
Peterborough teen honored at Provincial Conference

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.) held its 81st Annual General Meeting and Fish & Wildlife Conference in Mississauga during the March break, and local youth Justin Millett was on hand to the receive the O.F.A.H. Heritage Junior Award.

First presented in 1987, the O.F.A.H. Heritage Junior Award acknowledges that the youth of today are tomorrow’s stewards of Ontario’s natural resources. It is presented to the candidate that has shown dedication and leadership in the area of fish and wildlife conservation.

Justin was introduced to hunting and fishing through the O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors program, which is focused on conservation and youth leadership. He joined the local Kawartha chapter with a friend at 11 years old and later began assisting O.F.A.H. staff with events that led to high school co-op placement and summer employment at O.F.A.H. head office.

"Justin is a wonderful ambassador for conservation," said Frank Wick, of the O.F.A.H. Board of Directors. "We are pleased that the O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors program set this young man on the path to a lifetime of enjoyment and appreciation of the great outdoors."

In addition to the Get Outdoors program, Justin has been involved with the O.F.A.H.- administered Ontario Angler Awards and TackleShare programs. He is a favorite at the O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors Summer Camp, where he has a gift for talking campers through spells of homesickness.

Justin is currently attending Sir Sandford Fleming College and is interested in pursuing a career in M.N.R. Law Enforcement.

With over 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters, and 655 member clubs, the O.F.A.H. is the largest nonprofit, charitable, fishing, hunting and conservation-based organization in Ontario, and the voice of anglers and hunters. For more information, visit www.ofah.org.
