Eco Ed on cyber swamp tour

Wildly popular Eco Ed and his Eco Adventure Tour is now exploring new territory territory of the swamp kind.

Eco Ed first arrived in the cyber woods just over 18 months ago, bringing to young nature enthusiasts a peek behind the trees at elk, wood ducks, white tailed deer, red squirrels, and a red-shouldered hawk.

The highly educational program has enlightened and entertained thousands of young nature lovers, and now Eco Ed is bringing six new creatures to the cyber swamp. The ancient snapping turtle, majestic moose, wondrous green heron, bully-boy bullfrogs, black duck and industrious beaver are among the creatures both great and small introduced this month.

Eco Ed is like no other interactive on-line educational computer game of its kind. Rather than focusing just on the individual animals, Eco Ed explains how these creatures live and interact with other animals and with people.

A strong conservation message is also an important part of the program that has been designed to augment the Ontario school curriculum. Eco Ed comes in three modules suited for Grades one through three, Grades four and six and Grades seven and eight.

After learning about a particular animal, its habits and habitat, students are given the opportunity to use their knowledge to complete a fun and challenging test. Success is rewarded with a special animal crest that can be attached to a habitat certificate.

Designed by schoolteachers, professional biologists and communications specialists, information from each Eco Ed module can be reviewed and relearned and students can proceed at their own speed.
