Help Wanted!

The Ministry of Natural Resources is asking for assistance from the public for information leading to a conviction in the alleged mutilation of an immature bald eagle.

The young, female bald eagle was captured in the community of Bayfield, south of Goderich on Lake Huron, on July 21, 2001. The bird had a severely damaged upper beak. Because of the injury the eagle could not eat or drink properly and had to be euthanized. Bald eagles are protected under Ontario’s Endangered Species Act.

Anyone with information is asked to call the MNR Huron/Perth Area Office at (519) 482-3428 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). They can also complete the report on the Canadian Peregrine Foundation web site www.peregrine-foundation.ca.
