Important news for turkey hunters
New 1-800 number replaces turkey check stations

Effective this wild turkey hunting season, successful hunters no longer have to visit a check station to report the harvest of their bird. Hunters must report their wild turkey harvest by calling 1-800-288-1155 by no later than 12:00 noon the day after a bird is harvested. Please visit www.ontario.ca/hunting for more details.

“The O.F.A.H. would like to thank all those retailers who have hosted wild turkey check stations in the past, and we encourage them to introduce big-bird contests and other in-store events that will keep turkey hunters coming back throughout the season,” said O.F.A.H. Executive Director, Mike Reader.

As always, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters stresses that all hunters must respect private property. Responsible hunters do not tolerate trespassers because they know that farmers and landowners work very hard to protect their property investments, and rightly so, they expect lawful and courteous hunters who have permission to enjoy their land.

A growing number of private property owners, as well as locations like Grand River Conservation Authority properties, and most recently, the Simcoe County Forests, insist that all hunters are members of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. Every O.F.A.H. member automatically carries outdoors public liability insurance protection.
