Stockwell Day to give keynote speech at O.F.A.H. Conference

The Honourable Stockwell Day, P.C., M.P., federal Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness will be giving the keynote address at the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters’ (O.F.A.H.) 79th Annual General Meeting and Wildlife Conference at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Mississauga at 7:00 p.m., Saturday March 17, 2007.

“We’re delighted to have someone of Mr. Day’s reputation as the keynote speaker for our Awards dinner,” said Mike Reader, O.F.A.H. Executive Director. “As Minister of Public Safety, Mr. Day is intimately involved in issues that are of great concern to the general public and our members, and we are pleased that he has found time in his busy schedule to join us at the Conference.”

Named as Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness by Prime Minister Harper after the 2006 federal election, Mr. Day brings to the job a wealth of experience as both a former provincial Cabinet Minister who held several portfolios and as the former Leader of the Official Opposition with the Alliance Party of Canada. Mr. Day’s portfolio includes major responsibilities for the government’s agenda on public safety and crime, emergency preparedness and border security in the wake of 9/11, the RCMP and the firearms registry.

“As a senior member of Cabinet, Mr. Day’s background and experience have clearly made him a valuable member of the Prime Minster’s team, and we are looking forward to hearing his views on a number of issues,” said Reader.
