O.F.A.H. Supports Minister’s Appointment of New Fish and Wildlife Heritage Commission

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.) applauds the recent appointment of members to the Fish and Wildlife Heritage Commission by David Ramsay, Minister of Natural Resources.

“Although the Heritage Hunting and Fishing Act was passed two years ago, the previous government did not establish the Commission while in office, despite being required to do so under the Act. The Minister should be commended for forging ahead with the appointments process, and completing the process,” said Mike Reader, O.F.A.H. Executive Director. “The Minister promised the outdoor community that he would move forward with the appointment of members to the Commission, and we are pleased that he honored his commitment to do so before the Legislature adjourns for the summer. The government obviously sought to appoint members who bring with them a broad cross-section of experience in the outdoor community, and judging by the background of the appointees, they have done a good job.”

The Fish and Wildlife Commission advises the Minister on issues relating to fish and wildlife resources in Ontario, serves as an important sounding board for all issues related to the management of Ontario’s natural resources and plays an integral role in the future of angling and hunting.

The members of the new Commission are as follows: Vaughn Collins, Orillia; Angelo Lombardo, Peterborough; Eleanor Mitchell, Field; Conrad Morin, Hearst; George S. Purvis, Gore Bay; Duncan Sinclair, Aylmer; Joyce Dillon, Chapleau; James Etherington, Oakville; Robert Fisher, Belleville; Gerry Lee, Nepean; and Stanley Leschuk, Ear Falls.
