Hunters flock to talk turkey

Like birds of a feather, wild turkey hunters will soon flock together for the annual O.F.A.H. Wild Turkey Weekend, being held this June 9 and 10 at the Oxford Fish and Game Club near Woodstock.

Organized by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.) and the National Wild Turkey Federation (N.W.TF.), Wild Turkey Weekend will attract turkey hunting enthusiasts from across much of Ontario. Dubbed as the first and only program of its kind in Ontario, the two-day event has become an annual retreat for turkey hunters and an important celebration of wild turkey conservation.

This year, O.F.A.H. Wild Turkey Weekend is hosted by the Haldimand-Oxford-Norfolk Hunters and Anglers, an O.F.A.H. Member Club.

During this event, attendees will have a chance to demonstrate their hunting skills by participating in a turkey calling competition, camouflage contest and the Winchester Grand Slam Turkey Target Shoot. As well, there are distance judging contests, an archery skills challenge, children’s activities, and participants can enjoy onsite camping, campfire entertainment, raffles and prizes.
