Fort Frances club wins all-Ontario junior conservation award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FEBRUARY 27, 2004

Ontario’s Minister of Natural Resources David Ramsay proudly presented his government’s Junior Conservation Award to the hard-working Fort Frances Get Outdoors Club at the 76th Annual General Meeting and Wildlife Conference of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.), in Toronto.

The Fort Frances club, one of 40 O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors Clubs, impressed the judges with their fine conservation work throughout the entire year. They are most active in the spring and summer with projects such as canoeing, shooting sports, Purple Loosestrife beetle release and monitoring, beaver baffler construction, loon platform construction, bake sales, birdhouse building, roadside cleanups and more. They continue their fine work in the fall and winter with activities such as helping seniors build bird houses, snowshoe hikes and camping, night hikes, field trips, ice fishing and more.
