Get Outdoors: A one-of-a-kind summer camp experience
240 youth flock to Huntsville for OFAH Get Outdoors Summer camps
This isn’t your average summer camp.
From shooting compound bows and crossbows, target practice with .22 rifles, bass and walleye fishing, ATV riding, kayaking, fly tying, wild game calling and much more, the sold out OFAH Get Outdoors Summer Leadership Camp will be providing a one-of-a-kind opportunity for 240 OFAH youth members from across Ontario this month.
Now in its 13th year, the OFAH Get Outdoors Summer Leadership Camp is running four summer camps this year beginning Monday, July 7 and wrapping up Friday, July 25, offering traditional outdoor experiences for participants ages eight to 18. Camp spots sold out in less than two minutes during online registration in March.
“The Get Outdoors Summer Leadership Camp provides so many activities that youth can’t experience anywhere else, such as archery, ATV riding, fishing and target shooting,” said Alesha Howran, OFAH conservation outreach programs coordinator. “Parents tell us that this camp offers exactly what their children are looking for, and that there isn’t another summer camp like it anywhere.”
Sponsors Stoeger Canada and Canadian Tire support the camp program, as do the many dedicated volunteers who generously donate their time. That support has been crucial in growing the program, which began at a moose camp in 2002 with only 28 campers. For more information or to see videos and photos of camp activities, visit www.getoutdoors.org/camp and follow us on Twitter (@OFAHGetOutdoors).
Media are invited to Camp Romuva on the north side of Fox Lake for a first-person experience of all the camp has to offer. (To set up a media opportunity, please see contacts below).
With more than 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters, and 720 member clubs, the OFAH is the province’s largest nonprofit, fish and wildlife conservation-based organization and the VOICE of anglers and hunters.
