OFAH to recognize Ontario Trillium Foundation’s role in fight against invasive species

MEDIA ADVISORY

PETERBOROUGH – On Friday April 8th at 8:45 a.m. the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters will host a recognition event to acknowledge how an Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) grant has aided in the fight against invasive species in Ontario.

An OTF Seed Grant was awarded to OFAH in 2021 and it enabled the Invading Species Awareness Program to provide students within the Durham, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge catchment valuable conservation experiences focused on invasive species. The grant support directly led to the creation of the Invading Species Awareness Program Ambassadors, a group that will collaborate with eco and environmental clubs in their schools, local conservation authorities, and municipalities, to create, plan, and deliver invasive species related events.

ISAP staff will be on hand at the event to speak more on the program, while Peterborough-Kawartha MPP David Smith and OTF volunteer Les Kariunas will also attend and will be available for photo opportunities and to speak with media.
