Kick-off event to feature project site tours
PETERBOROUGH — Alternative Land Use Services Peterborough began as a pilot project in 2016 to help address concerns over the loss of wildlife habitat on private farmland.
On Saturday, Oct. 13, the ALUS Peterborough pilot program turns official with its launch event at the OFAH/Mario Cortellucci Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre in Peterborough at 10 a.m.
The event kicks off with a presentation that will provide an update on how the ALUS program works, and will feature some of the projects that ALUS Peterborough has completed through the pilot project phase. Following the presentations and light refreshments, there will be a bus tour travelling to Omemee and Lindsay to visit two of the project sites.
The itinerary for the day will be as follows:
9:30 a.m. — Doors open – Coffee and snacks available
10 a.m. — Presentation, Q & A with ALUS staff
11:30 a.m. — Light lunch
12:30 p.m. — Optional bus tour to project sites in the Omemee/Lindsay area
4:00 p.m. — Return to the HFHC
