PETERBOROUGH – The OFAH Heritage Junior Award honours the young person who has made the most outstanding contribution to conservation over the past year.
Meagan Reid of the the Barrie District Hunters and Anglers Conservation Club grabbed the top honours – and deservingly so.
Throughout 2015, Reid conducted herself in an enthusiastic, safe and team-orientated manner and has participated in all of the club’s Youth Conservation Programs.
She has been involved in everything from helping to plan numerous events within the club, helping to make salt and mineral blocks, honey bee workshops, cleaning and maintaining wood duck boxes, planting nut and fruit bearing trees, and helping the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry clean up 1,500 pounds of illegal dumping. She also helped within the community by her numerous hours spent weeding, watering and harvesting vegetables in the club’s community garden.
Reid was presented with the award during the 88th OFAH Annual General Meeting and Fish and Wildlife Conference earlier this month. She was joined at the ceremony by a large contingent of supporters from the Barrie District Hunters and Anglers Conservation Club.
