Four university students receive grants from OFAH to further their research projects
PETERBOROUGH — The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) and partners offer four student research grants worth $4,000 each to assist university graduate students researching fish and wildlife topics that are helping to improve resource management.
Winners of those four grants were announced during the 88th OFAH Annual General Meeting & Fish and Wildlife Conference.
The winners are:
The Dave Ankney & Sandi Johnson Award for Avian Ecology – $4,000
Crystal Kelly for her work on: Genetic Analysis and Management of Sandhill Cranes in Ontario;
The OFAH Zone G/ Oakville & District Rod & Gun Club Wildlife
Research Grant – $4,000
Meredith Purcell for her work on: Moose Genome Project: a phylogeographic and landscape genomic assessment of North American moose (Alces alces);
The OFAH/St. Catharines Game and Fish Association and Conservation Club of West Lincoln Wildlife Research Grant- $4,000
Amanda MacDonald for her work on: Health Assessment of Wild Turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) in Ontario;
The Toronto Sportsmen’s Show/OFAH Zone H Fisheries
Research Grant – $4,000
Lindsey Boyd for her work on: Assessing the Status and Trends of Sportfish Populations in Coastal Wetlands of Georgian Bay, Lake Huron.
