INVITATION TO ALL MEDIA
Fishing gear on loan to young anglers at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour
Aspiring anglers who would like to try fishing but aren’t sure how to get started, can head to Kingston this Saturday to borrow fishing gear and learn how to fish for free. The OFAH/OPG Travelling TackleShare program will be at the 16th Annual Kids’ Perch Derby, organized by the Kingston & District Fish and Game Club.
The OFAH/OPG TackleShare crew will have everything young anglers need to safely cast out a line, including rods, reels, tackle, bait and personal floatation gear. The team will also have an interactive educational display, which includes introductory fishing instruction, information on invasive species and water safety, and lessons on aquatic habitat and conservation. Visit www.tackleshare.com for details.
Travelling TackleShare is an initiative of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) and is proudly sponsored by Ontario Power Generation (OPG).
Media are invited to attend this week’s events, which will feature great photo and video opportunities of families spending time together this summer, and youth learning to fish for the first time, guided by qualified instructors.

The OFAH runs two lending programs: TackleShare, which loans gear from more than 140 loaner sites across Ontario, and Travelling TackleShare, which brings fishing gear to a variety of events in different locations during the summer. Both programs are designed to break down the barriers that keep new and young anglers from getting out on the water, and to help youth experience the fun and challenge of fishing. Both programs are sponsored by OPG.
OPG generates more than half of Ontario’s power, 99.7 per cent of which is free of greenhouse gas and smog emissions. Water at or near OPG’s 65 hydroelectric stations and 240 dams can become dangerous in seconds, so please stay clear and stay safe. Visit www.opg.com/watersafety for more information.
With more than 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters, and 725 member clubs, the OFAH is the largest nonprofit, fish and wildlife conservation-based organization in Ontario. For more information, visit www.ofah.org or follow us on Twitter (@ofah) and on Facebook (ofah.org/facebook).
