Murillo outdoorsman honoured by fellow conservationists
Tireless volunteer and active community member wins prestigious award
Glenn Rivard, an active OFAH zone member and Murillo resident, was recognized by his peers at the 85th Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) Annual General Meeting and Fish & Wildlife Conference March 14, 2013, receiving the esteemed Jack O’Dette Conservation Leadership Award.
Glenn has been a member of the OFAH Board of Directors for the past 13 years, currently serving as 1st Vice President. He previously served as Chair of OFAH Zone B, has been a member of the OFAH Big Game Advisory Committee since 2000 and is an OFAH representative with the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
Glenn is very active in his zone, participating at council meetings, volunteering at sportsmen’s shows, and engaging children in activities such as a day on the trap line, passing on the knowledge of one of Ontario’s oldest traditions. More recently, Glenn was very instrumental in getting a new bow hunting season, which began in September 2012 within the city limits of Thunder Bay. The Ministry of Natural Resources, local police, city officials and hunters are calling it a success, thanks in large part to Glenn’s efforts.
The Jack O’Dette Conservation Leadership Award is given annually to a director on the OFAH Board, in recognition of their hard work and dedication to conservation. Jack O’Dette was a member of the Order of Canada, a past OFAH President, and an avid angler, hunter and conservationist.
With over 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters, and 710 member clubs, the OFAH is the largest nonprofit fishing, hunting and conservation-based organization in Ontario, and the voice of anglers and hunters. For more information, visit www.ofah.org or follow the OFAH on Facebook and Twitter.
