Media invited to GO FISH! Ontario Family Fishing weekend makes it easy!
Ontario Family Fishing Weekends offers a record high of 100 community events province wide, in winter and summer, and is a “must do” family activity. This weekend marks the 5th anniversary of the winter licence-free fishing initiative and participation is expected to double over last year.
Ontario Family Fishing Weekends introduces fishing to all generations by offering Canadian residents the opportunity to fish Ontario waters licence-free from February 19 through to Monday, February 21st, which is the provincial Family Day holiday. A summer license-free opportunity is held over nine days in July.
Ontario Family Fishing Weekend is an initiative of the Ministry of Natural Resources, organized by the Ontario Family Fishing Weekend Steering Committee. This committee is comprised of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Ministry of Natural Resources, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and the Canadian Sportfishing Industry Association.
