O.F.A.H. Conservation Lottery awards nearly $300,000 in prizes
Proceeds to go to conservation programming, as lucky winners drawn

Vehicles, boats and motors, trailers, an ATV, a diamond ring and more great prizes are going home to new owners, thanks to their two-dollar investment in the 35th Annual O.F.A.H. Conservation Lottery. As grand as the prizes in the main draw are, the biggest winners are the fish and wildlife conservation programs supported by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters’ (O.F.A.H.) lottery. The main draw took place in front of an excited crowd at the O.F.A.H. Ontario Conservation Centre in Peterborough on Friday, May 29, 2009.

The top five prizes included Dodge vehicles, Lund boats, Yamaha motors and ShoreLand’r trailers. In total, one hundred prizes worth over $299,000 were awarded tax-free to lucky ticket holders.

James Rose of Espanola is this year’s Grand Prize Winner (ticket #009021). James will take home a 2009 Dodge Durango, Lund 1700 Pro Sport boat, Yamaha 115 hp outboard motor, and Shoreland’r trailer, a package worth an astounding $81,000. James is looking forward to replacing his aging car with a brand new Durango in time to retire and travel with his wife Aline, and is sure the new boat and motor will provide many hours of enjoyment as he fishes his favorite spots around Manitoulin Island.

Kevin Weir of Nottawa (ticket #318827) had his ticket drawn for the second grand prize, a 2009 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab 4×4. Third grand prize winner is Tom Taylor of St. George (ticket #462849), now the proud owner of a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan, and fourth grand prize winner, Gilles Matko of Hearst (ticket #050919) held the ticket for a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT. Finishing out the top five grand prize winners is Brandon White of Blenheim (ticket #177470), who will be enjoying some great fishing this summer with his new Lund 1625 Rebel XL boat, Yamaha 40 hp outboard motor and trailer package. Other prizes included a Yamaha Rhino 700 side-by-side ATV, Knappett Jewellers lady’s 14kt custom designed diamond ring, Shimano Angler Package, Browning Fireproof safe, and a Burris Optics Package.

"My congratulations go to all those who held winning tickets in the O.F.A.H. Annual Conservation Lottery. I also convey my sincere thanks to our members and member clubs who are the backbone of this important fundraiser," said Mike Reader, O.F.A.H. Executive Director. "Every year, they raise much needed funds through ticket sales, with the generous support of our sponsors who attract ticket buyers with great prizes. The funds generated are used to carry out conservation initiatives, such as habitat enhancement, fisheries projects, wildlife reintroduction, and youth programs."

The O.F.A.H. is the largest fish and wildlife conservation-based organization in Ontario, and the voice of anglers and hunters. The 35th Annual O.F.A.H. Conservation Lottery was conducted under Provincial Lottery Licence #1001. For a complete list of all winners and prizes in the two early bird draws and the main draw, visit www.ofah.org/lottery.
