Industries partner with the O.F.A.H. for conservation
Marks Work Wearhouse, Pioneer Petroleums honored at O.F.A.H. A.G.M.

Two O.F.A.H. corporate sponsors received much-deserved accolades recently at the O.F.A.H. 81st Annual General Meeting and Fish & Wildlife Conference, held in Mississauga. Marks Work Wearhouse and Pioneer Petroleums were named Industry Partner Award winners for 2008, in recognition of the outstanding support they have provided to the O.F.A.H. and its members.

Marks Work Wearhouse has been working with the Federation since 2004 helping to raise funds for conservation. Through special arrangement with the national chain, a percentage of members’ purchases is returned to the O.F.A.H. for conservation programming. In just four years, almost $60,000 has been raised through this special partnership.

"O.F.A.H. members are making purchases at their Marks Work Wearhouse stores across the country, which is helping their Federation here in Ontario," said O.F.A.H. Member Services Coordinator Ian Deslauriers. "With the benefits this incentive offers to our members, to Marks and to the Federation, everyone wins."

Pioneer Petroleums is Ontario’s largest independent gasoline retailer, with many of its stations located in areas where fishing and hunting are important. Since 2007, Pioneer has helped support conservation by partnering with the O.F.A.H. in a highly successful membership drive offering a Pioneer gift card incentive to new members. In 2008, Pioneer signed on to lend its support to the Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program, and this year, will run "Conservation Month at Pioneer," in select areas during May, with proceeds supporting environmental field trips, as part of the restoration program’s classroom hatchery initiative.

"Pioneer is a community-focused company that we’re proud to work with," said Robert Pye, O.F.A.H. Member Services Manager. "Their corporate philosophy of encouraging individuals to help improve the environment is a natural fit for the Federation."

With over 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters, and 655 member clubs, the O.F.A.H. is the largest nonprofit, charitable, fishing, hunting and conservation-based organization in Ontario, and the voice of anglers and hunters. For more information, visit www.ofah.org.
