TO ALL ASSIGNMENT EDITORS/PHOTOGRAPHERS: O.F.A.H. partners support environmental project in Ajax Media invited to McLean Park and Paulynn Park Habitat Restoration Event
On September 21, 2007, 50 Fleming College students will join the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.), Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (T.R.C.A.), Trees Ontario Foundation and the Town of Ajax in a hands-on environmental project. These partners are coming together to clean up Duffins Creek, and volunteers will also plant over 500 cedar trees.
The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a shoreline clean-up at McLean Park and culminate with a planting at Paulynn Park. These initiatives are part of a multi-year project to restore Atlantic salmon in Lake Ontario. Duffins Creek is one of three key watersheds that have been targeted for restoration efforts of the Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program. The event will provide great interview and photo opportunities that demonstrate the importance of grassroots, volunteer-driven environmental action.
