The BIGGEST youth event in Spring Fishing Show history

What happens when you put 25 gorgeous cheerleaders, 3 C.F.L. football players, 5,000 rainbow trout, a dozen professional anglers, 4 days of free kids’ activities and 30,000 families, all under one roof?

Answer: The O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors Kids Zone, the largest indoor, outdoors youth event in Canada, proudly presented by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. It’s all part of the Toronto Spring Fishing Show, February 16 to 19, at the International Centre, in Mississauga. The event is absolutely free for children 18 years old and younger.

“We are transforming 12,000 square feet of warehouse into a fully interactive wilderness experience, complete with a stocked trout pond and free fishing sponsored by Fishing Forever Foundation,” said O.F.A.H. Youth Services Representative, Keith Beecroft. “We have designed a dynamic indoor forest path that will lead families on an incredible outdoors journey featuring: a 3-D archery range, Lazer-shot hunting simulators, fly tying, casting contests, an outdoor crime investigation scene and trout fishing.”

Beecroft said the Spring Fishing Show is where families can “disconnect” from television and video games and participate, free of charge, in an awesome showcase of hands-on outdoors activities. The event was developed by the O.F.A.H. and Ontario OUT OF DOORS Magazine to provide a “jumping-in point” for kids’ inherent fascination for the great outdoors, he said.

Beecroft added that, “Moms and dads, and children of all ages, will be laughing and cheering at all of the presentations on the O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors stage, including moose, deer and turkey calling contests, M.N.R. K-9 Unit’s “Dogs with Jobs” demonstrations, and “fish like the pros” seminars presented by Chris Hockley and James Cooper.”

Rocking the O.F.A.H. Get Outdoors stage will be the Toronto Argos’ Blue Thunder Dance Team, a great segue to a special meet and greet session with football stars Mike O’Shea, Chuck Walsh and Jude St. John.
