McGuinty targets real issues, says O.F.A.H.

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.) is pleased to note that the announcement made earlier today by Premier Dalton McGuinty in response to the spate of gun crimes in Toronto and other urban centers focuses on the real issues.

“Quite rightly, the Premier has announced initiatives that will help police and the court system focus on the gangs and criminals who use illegal guns to commit crimes on our streets and in our communities, and not the legal, trained and law-abiding firearms owners who have nothing to do with the illegal use of guns and threats to public safety,” said Mike Reader, O.F.A.H. Executive Director.

“The O.F.A.H. has always supported increased fines and penalties for the use of guns to commit crime, no plea bargains for gun crimes and increased funding to put more police officers on the street. The government’s announcement is a reaffirmation of the fact that lawful hunters, farmers and recreational sports shooters are not part of the problem,” he said.

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters is the leading outdoors organization that proudly represents tens of thousands of responsible gun owners in Ontario.
