Retired Conservation Officer earns prestigious O.F.A.H. hunter education awardFor his years of service and dedication to safe and responsible hunting, a Peterborough-area resident has earned one of public education’s highest honors, the Ontario Hunting Heritage Award. This past weekend, Pat Hogan, of Omemee, proudly accepted the prestigious hunter education award at the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters’ 77th Annual Wildlife Conference, in Toronto. At that event, he was congratulated by his peers, O.F.A.H. Board of Directors, and political dignitaries including Conservative Party Leader, Stephen Harper. Mr. Hogan said, “what a perfect way to fully retire from the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. I’m very proud to receive the Ontario Hunting Heritage Award.” After serving an incredible 35-year career as an M.N.R. Conservation Officer and provincial law enforcement trainer, Mr. Hogan emerged from retirement to lead the Ontario Hunter Education Program, administered by the Peterborough-based Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. “No one could be more deserving of the Ontario Hunter Education Award. Pat’s passion for the great outdoors, and his years of training expertise, has helped shape today’s promising future for the Ontario Hunter Education Program,” said Mike Reader, O.F.A.H. Executive Director. Mr. Hogan added that not only is he a proud O.F.A.H. member, he’s also a proud grand dad, enjoying more family time celebrating this major award and second retirement. -30- Contact:
