The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, (O.F.A.H.), applauds Premier McGuinty’s appointment of David Ramsay, M.P.P. for Timiskaming-Cochrane as the new Minister of Natural Resources.

“Over the years, the O.F.A.H. has worked with Mr. Ramsay on a number of issues affecting the outdoor community, and has always found him to be extremely knowledgeable and a man of integrity”, said Mike Reader, O.F.A.H. Executive Director. “By appointing Mike Brown, M.P.P. Algoma-Manitoulin as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister, and Rick Bartolucci, M.P.P. Sudbury as Minister of Northern Development and Mines, the Premier has honoured his commitment to northern Ontario residents and recognized that the members representing these areas have a deep appreciation and understanding for the issues that impact upon all of our valuable natural resources.”

Mr. Reader also lauded the appointment of Leona Dombrowsky, M.P.P. Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington as Minister of Environment as a positive step. “Given the new Minister’s legacy of hard work, broad understanding of issues affecting the environment and the area of the province she represents, the appointment of Ms. Dombrowsky as Minister is a good choice.”

With over 80,000 members and 655 affiliate clubs, the O.F.A.H. is the largest nonprofit, conservation-based organization in Ontario, and the lead member of the National Coalition of Provincial and Territorial Wildlife Federations.

This press release was issued by the O.F.A.H. on October 27, 2003.
