Owen Sound club regains conservation crown

The Sydenham Sportsmen’s Association of Owen Sound has regained the prestigious Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters’ Mary Pickford Trophy for outstanding conservation work.

Over the last nine years, the Sydenham club has won this award a remarkable seven times. Proud representatives of the Sydenham club received the award Saturday night at the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters’ (O.F.A H.) 75th Annual General Meeting and Wildlife Conference held at the Sheraton Hotel in Hamilton.

The Owen Sound area club has been instrumental in re-establishing one of the finest trout and salmon fisheries in the Great Lakes.

“The Sydenham Sportsmen’s Association is an incredibly active and important group in Ontario. Their efforts on behalf of conservation are nothing short of legendary and that is why they have won this award so many times,” said Mike Reader, O.F.A.H. Executive Director.
