O.F.A.H. celebrates 75TH Anniversary at Fish and Wildlife Conference

From Thursday, February 20 to Saturday, February 22, 2003, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, (O.F.A.H.), the province’s largest nonprofit conservation organization, will celebrate its 75th anniversary at the O.F.A.H. Annual General Meeting and Wildlife Conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Hamilton, Ontario. The O.F.A.H., its 83,000 members and 645 affiliate clubs are leaders in the field of fish and wildlife conservation and work with local, provincial and national organizations and all levels of government to enhance and protect our valuable natural resources.

Guests include the Honourable Ernie Eves, Premier of Ontario, who will give the keynote speech at the February 22nd Awards Banquet; the Honourable Jerry Ouellette, Minister of Natural Resources who will speak to conference participants at a morning session on Friday February 21st; and Paul Steckle, M.P., Huron-Bruce, the featured speaker at the President’s Reception on Thursday evening.

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of seminars and workshops on topics of interest to the outdoor community such as chronic wasting disease, resource stewardship agreements and forest management plans, wild turkey and waterfowl hunting and the animal rights agenda. Participants include the Canadian Wildlife Service, Canadian Wildlife Federation and Reno and Angelo Viola whose Fish’n Canada Radio Show will air live from the Conference.

Also featured will be a number of activities involving dozens of young people ages 8­-18 who are members of the O.F.A.H. national award winning GET OUTDOORS youth program.
