M.N.R. biologist wins Rick Morgan Conservation Award

Dave Reid a Ministry of Natural Resources biologist and a Stewardship Coordinator, has been awarded the 2002 Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters’ (O.F.A.H.) Rick Morgan Professional Conservation Award.

His long-standing contribution to the Ontario Wild Turkey Restoration Program and his work as Coordinator of the Norfolk Stewardship Council has resulted in the conservation, restoration and creation of much needed fish and wildlife habitat.

Besides his work with wild turkeys and endless hours working in the Norfolk area encouraging landowners to use water more conscientiously after severe drought, Dave has worked on other initiatives including the Barn Owl Reintroduction and the James Berry Buffer Demonstration Site.

“Dave Reid is an incredibly dedicated biologist, volunteer and teacher. Recognition for his work in the field is long overdue. He is a caring outdoorsman, conservationist and highly valued member of the O.F.A.H.,” said O.F.A.H. President Neil Wiens.

Reid was also a strong advocate of the Hunting Heritage Hunting Futures and the Heritage Hunting and Fishing Act.
