O.F.A.H. congratulates Hodgson on outstanding service

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.) would like to congratulate the significant accomplishments of the Honourable Chris Hodgson, M.P.P. for Haliburton-Victoria-Brock.

In every Cabinet portfolio he held: Natural Resources, Northern Development, Management Board and Municipal Affairs, Hodgson championed conservation and a healthy environment.

“Chris Hodgson accomplished great things for healthy fish and wildlife in Ontario,” said Mike Reader, Executive Director of the O.F.A.H. “He’s done a lot to help protect the way of life and cultural heritage of residents in northern and central Ontario.”

Hodgson was first elected in 1994 by the constituents of Victoria-Haliburton and following his reelection in 1995, Hodgson’s talents did not go unnoticed by then-Premier Mike Harris, who entrusted him with a double portfolio as Minister of Natural Resources and Minister of Northern Development and Mines.

Hodgson’s many accomplishments include, (for the first time in Ontario history) earmarking funding to fish and wildlife by creating the Special Purpose Account, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act to help ensure healthy fish and wildlife for future generations, the Fish and Wildlife Enhancement Fund, natural heritage protection throughout the Oak Ridges Moraine, grandfathering of Firearms Acquisition Certificates (F.A.C.’s) for hunters, and his establishment of the Fish and Wildlife Advisory Board.

“Chris Hodgson got things done to improve the conservation of Ontario’s natural resources and improve the quality of lives for those who depend on them,” added Reader.
