Youth Round Table on the Environment (Y.R.T.E.)

Our youth are the future of conservation.

When opportunities arise to foster youth interest and participation in the issues that affect our natural world we, as responsible members of the outdoors community, must help get young people involved.

Environment Canada has issued a call for youth applications to a Youth Round Table on the Environment (Y.R.T.E.).

O.F.A.H. Member Clubs and Individual Members can help recruit young people to participate in this program and bring a hunting and angling perspective to the discussions. The program involves a one year term during which young people meet three to four times to provide input on Environment Canada’s programs and policies. As well, there are opportunities to advise on ways to make programs more accessible to youth and provide recommendations on environmental issues of concern to them and their peers. This year’s Y.R.T.E. is working primarily on climate change, biodiversity and protection, environment and health sustainable lifestyles and environmental education.
